Prerequisite: Understanding Persian and basic conversational skills
This theater class introduces children to the beauty of the Persian language and culture through play, imagination, and performance. Each session blends theater games, storytelling, and improvisation to make learning both fun and engaging. Children will explore Persian words and expressions while acting out scenes, moving their bodies, and inventing stories together. Activities such as role-switching, improv skits, and group rhythm games help them gain confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills.
The first five sessions will serve as an introduction, giving all students the chance to enjoy theater, learn basic skills, and explore Iranian folktales in a modern, playful way. Instead of memorizing lines, they will discover how to bring characters to life, experiment with dialogue, and even create their own versions of classic tales.
At the end of the fifth session, students who wish to participate in the final performance at the Yalda Celebration on December 7th will register for an additional five rehearsal sessions held on Wednesdays, 6 to 7 pm. These rehearsals will focus on preparing for the performance, helping students polish their roles, and building group confidence on stage.
The final performance will be a lively adaptation of an Iranian folktale—where tradition meets modern storytelling—celebrating not only the children’s growth in theater but also their joy in learning Persian.
